Academic Extension Class

At Ainslie Parklands Primary School, the focus is on individualised learning and ensuring that students' academic growth is accelerated to their full potential.

  • Students from Foundation - Year 6 are extended within the classroom setting (see Individual Education Plans IEPs).
  • Students in Years 3-6 are eligible for the Ainslie Parklands Primary School stand-alone Academic Extension Class, which incorporates Numeracy and Literacy.
  1. Students walk to closely located Melba College for the Maths component of this program, working with the Year 12 Maths teacher and Year 8 high ability students. This is also beneficial for transition to a secondary setting, particularly for our senior students.
  2. The literacy component is held onsite at Ainslie Parklands Primary School. Entry into the program is based using academic results such as NAPLAN, PAT and teacher judgement data.
