Visual Art - Foundation to Year 6

Our Visual Art program encourages students to develop their own creative ideas and to express themselves through art. Students enjoy the use of a wide range of media, including drawing mediums, textiles, construction materials, paints and clay. Their exploration of each is supported through instruction in the processes and techniques for use, combined with expressive experimentation.
Topics covered throughout the year in Art include:
- Drawing techniques
- Artist traits
- Textiles
- Collage
- Painting and printmaking
- Construction and modelling
- Year 6 end of year project (painted and collaged skateboards)
The art program supports students to:
- Understand how artists create meaning through art
- Recognise the significance of art in culture and history
- Define, identify and use the elements and principles of art
- Explore a wide range of mediums, including the techniques and processes pertaining to each medium
- Express their own feelings, ideas and identity through the process of creating
- Engage with the local community by participating in community art projects
Above all, Art at Ainslie Parklands supports students to become creative, curious and imaginative while fostering a sense of enjoyment in the practice of creating art.
