Auslan (Australian Sign Language) is offered to all students from Foundation to Year 6. Our Auslan lessons are designed to be interactive and involve hand on experiences of learning language. Students are given opportunities to practice their Auslan every week through immersive learning experiences.
Over a year we cover many topics including:
- Everyday Signs
- Fingerspelling
- Numbers
- Weather
- Transport
- Question Signs + many more.
We also have a focus on developing an understanding of the Deaf community and the rich culture which this community brings to our diverse nation.
Learning Auslan has significant benefits for growing interpersonal skills, developing awareness, and promoting an inclusive culture which embraces diversity.
