Performing Arts

Music in the Classroom

Music is offered as a specialist lesson for students in Foundation through to Year 6. Students learn music concepts through a hands-on approach, making music together with movement, singing and playing instruments.

  • Ainslie Parklands Primary School has a wide range of high quality instruments in our music room, including guitars, ukuleles, keyboards, hand drums, xylophones, drum kits, and other percussion instruments. The emphasis is on practical music making activities.
  • Choir is offered for Years 2-6 students and they perform at every assembly. Our students perform their wonderful class music items in assemblies and other events.
  • Instrumental lessons are offered to the students on instruments such as the piano, guitar, drums and a variety of brass instruments.

Drama in the Classroom

Drama is taught from Foundation to Year 6 in the Performing Arts program. This is a chance to learn about the craft of acting, as well as explore techniques used in acting, performing and creating scenes.

  • Lessons provide an opportunity for students to further explore emotions and how to express themselves.
  • Students create plays in partner and small groups and perform to the class, using the large quantity of beautiful costumes available, as well as the green screen as a backdrop.
